CLARK FUSION Lithium-ion batteries offer several advantages over lead-acid batteries, starting with their impressive efficiency and longevity. Unlike traditional lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries provide a higher energy density, which translates into longer operational hours between charges. This efficiency is particularly beneficial in high-demand environments where forklifts are in constant use, as it reduces downtime associated with frequent recharging. Additionally, lithium-ion batteries maintain consistent power output throughout their discharge cycle, ensuring that forklifts operate at full capacity until the battery is nearly depleted, unlike lead-acid batteries that experience a drop in performance as they discharge.

California’s CORE Is Updated for 2023-2024; What You Need to Know

What is CORE?

The California Air Resources Board (CARB), in partnership with CALSTART, launched the Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) to accelerate the purchase of zero-emission off-road equipment in California.

CORE, analogous to the Hybrid and Zero-Emission Truck and Bus Voucher Incentive Project (HVIP), is a project intended to encourage California companies to purchase or lease currently commercialized zero-emission off-road freight equipment by providing a streamlined voucher process to offset the higher cost of such technologies.

CORE voucher amounts are based on the incremental cost difference between traditional equipment and new zero-emission alternatives. Additional funding is available for charging infrastructure, equipment deployed in pollution overburdened communities (DACs), and equipment purchased by small businesses.

How You Can Participate in CORE

Criteria for Eligibility:

Any off-road equipment Purchaser in California is eligible. If you want to participate, the purchased equipment must be domiciled and operated for at least three years in California after the voucher redemption date. Equipment Purchasers must also submit activity reports for three years. 

The fleet size does not affect voucher amounts, and equipment Purchasers are not limited to the number of vouchers they can apply for. 

Steps for Participating in CORE:

  1. Select equipment that suits your needs from the Eligible Equipment Catalog.
  2. Contact a CORE-approved Dealer. The Dealer will submit the voucher request on your behalf.
  3. Provide the dealer with equipment domicile location, small business designation, and other information.
  4. Purchase your CORE-discounted equipment.

Lithium-ion Convenience, Efficiency and Productivity

Lithium-Ion batteries are efficient and maintenance-free, with no battery watering required. The easy-to-operate charger eliminates the need to remove the battery when charging, as well as gives you the ability to use opportunity charging to keep your forklift running all shift long. Lithium-ion batteries are also longer-lasting, more reliable, and require less service than traditional lead-acid batteries.

Operator Comfort

With the slim profile of the lithium-ion battery, the TWLi20 has a spacious operator compartment, with excellent ergonomic features including a retractable seatbelt, fully adjustable armrest, and dual joystick controls that are intuitive and comfortable for operators to use. Additionally, the wide-view mast and high operator seating position allows for excellent sightlines, providing both comfort and enhanced safety for operators. 

Performance

The TWLi20 has a tight turn radius, making it perfect for indoor and narrow aisle applications. The dual-joystick controls direct the movement of the forks, sideshifter, and fork positioner, allowing the operator to navigate the facility with ease. The chasis has a low center of gravity and wide tires, which provides excellent stability for the truck. 

Low Cost of Ownership

The fully enclosed drive, lift, and steer motors lead to less downtime, lower overall cost of ownership, and a higher ROI compared to other models without. The all-electric brakes on the TWLi20 and the powerful Lithium-Ion battery are both maintenance-free, with no brake pads to change or battery watering required.
