The Clean Off-Road Equipment Voucher Incentive Project (CORE) is a multi-million dollar incentive project intended to encourage California off-road equipment users to purchase or lease currently commercialized zero-emission off-road equipment. This streamlined voucher incentive project helps offset the higher cost of zero-emission technology with a point-of-sale discount. There is no scrappage requirement, and additional funding is available for charging and fueling infrastructure, equipment deployed in disadvantaged communities, and small businesses. Taylor Announces Electric Vehicle Innovation Powered by the Best-in-Class Battery Technology by Proterra
Louisville, Mississippi – Taylor Machine Works, Inc. has always been at the forefront of innovation and problem solving throughout its 94 years of manufacturing. As a result of the ever-changing manufacturing environment and the influence of electric vehicle technology, Taylor felt an immense responsibility to design and manufacture zero-emission material handling equipment that would integrate seamlessly into the existing customer workflow. In 2019, Taylor first accomplished this by engineering the ZLC Series designed to load and unload shipping containers weighing up to 75,000 pounds in port environments. The battery-electric ZLC Series met the stringent zero-emissions standard without interrupting the demanding processing sequence required by the world’s busiest ports. Utilizing state-of-the-art electric motors and environmentally responsible battery packs, the ZLC Series plug-in battery electric vehicle was equipped with enough energy to smoothly transition from combustion engines to reliable electric power.
Now Taylor is venturing into a new relationship with Proterra Inc, the leading innovator in commercial vehicle electrification technology. Taylor will power the next-generation Taylor ZLC Series electric container handler with 904 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy and the ZH Series electric forklift with 225 kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy using Proterra’s industry-leading battery technology. These all-electric container handlers and forklifts will support various heavy-duty applications, including container handling in port environments and other heavy-material handling industrial settings such as warehouses, plants, worksites, mine sites, steel yards, lumber yards, and others. Taylor expects to deliver the first Proterra powered Taylor vehicle to customers in 2022. The Industrial Truck Association has announced Forklift Safety Day, to be held Tuesday, June 8. While most of us won’t be able to attend the DC festivities as they are virtual due to Covid 19, there are things you can do to take advantage of this day to help create awareness about the dangers that forklifts present and how to minimize the potential for accidents that can result in injury or death, damage to your facility, equipment and financial losses.
We’ve compiled a short list of things you can do to improve safety on and around your forklifts, and create more attention to forklift safety.
Forklift Operator Training
Make sure all your forklift operators have been trained and that their refresher training is up to date, if applicable or necessary.
Take time to teach your forklift operators the importance of daily inspections of their forklifts. Daily inspections reduce the risk of equipment failure and catch small problems before they blossom into giant ones.
Take some time to gather any staff that operates around forklifts, but not on them, to refresh them about the dangers of this equipment and how to be sure to use safe procedures when they are in an area of your facility where forklifts are being operated.
Forklift Maintenance
Make sure all your forklift’s maintenance is up to date. If you have a Planned Maintenance Agreement, this would be a good time to review it with your service provider to ensure all standard checkpoints as well as unique equipment attachments are being inspected and maintained properly.
Make sure you forklifts have proper safety equipment and that it’s operating properly. Lights, horns, back-up alarms, seat belts, fire extinguishers etc…
Make sure you have lock-out kits to ensure that forklifts that do not pass an inspection are locked out immediately until repairs are made.
Review any unique “site specific” features your facility may have and be sure your operators are aware of proper handling of equipment while on or around these features (ramps, areas where floors can be slick, floor substrates that vary etc…)
Forklift Operator Training
Make sure that training is part of your company’s orientation for anyone that will or MIGHT operate a forklift. Remember, employees that have not been properly trained aren’t even allowed to sit on and start a forklift, much less move it out of the way of anything.
Forklift Fleet Analysis
Review all your forklifts for possible replacement. Old forklifts, or those that are getting “up there” in hours, might be potential threats. Review safety records and maintenance logs for your equipment. You might find this could be a good time to replace some or even all of your forklifts.-

LEXINGTON, KY – April 1, 2021 – CLARK Material Handling Company, a top-ten global manufacturer of forklift trucks and spare parts, announces an expansion of the CLARK standard warranty for Carriage to Counterweight and Powertrain coverage for up to three years. Specifically, beginning April 1, 2021 the CLARK Protection Plan standard warranty now covers:
Full “Carriage to Counterweight” for two years or 4,000 hours, whichever comes first
Powertrain for three years or 6,000 hours, whichever comes first
This warranty change actively demonstrates the high-quality engineering, manufacturing and componentry that goes into each CLARK product. This new and expanded “bumper to bumper” standard warranty ensures that when purchasing a CLARK product, it is indeed “Built to Last.”

PIN-WHEELING
With the handle in the fully upright position, the WPL40 pin-wheels in and out of tight spaces using a smaller, tighter turn-radius and moves up to 4,000 lbs in close-quarters with ease.
HYDRAULICS
The permanent magnet DC pump motor and chrome-plated lifting cylinder provides for smooth and efficient lifting, as well as greater durability.
BRAKES
The electromagnetic brake, mounted on the motor armature shaft, multiplies the braking power through the transmission and provides good stopping power when the control tiller is raised to the full vertical position or lowered to full horizontal position beyond the operating range. Additionally, the armature-mounted brake design:
Keeps the braking mechanism clear from dirt and debris
Automatically engages the parking brake when the truck stops and the handle is released

ERGONOMIC STEER/CONTROL HANDLE

A solid steel tubing control tiller arm and control handles meant to outlast cast aluminum or plastic designs
Angled control handle grips allowing easy operation with either hand
An emergency reversing switch, thumb control, and horn — all standard

FORK DESIGN WITH TAPERED TIPS
The WPL40’s fork construction and pallet entry slide system, which allows a lifting of the forks up-and-over the bottom board, provides easy pallet access. The forks, at 27” OAW x 46.0 OAL, can achieve a maximum elevation of over 7.5”. The shape of the load wheel housing or toe box, ensures pallet entry and exit can occur without the need for wearable rollers.
48-VOLT LITHIUM-ION BATTERY POWER OUTPUT
The Lithium-Ion 48-Volt battery provides the same power-output all the way through the charge cycle — giving the operator the same power during the first 10% of the charge as the last 10% as well as surpassing the truck charge power from similar lead-acid batteries.
ELECTRICAL COMPONENTRY
The water-resistant connectors and shrouded wiring harness supply power reliably to key components. The WPL40 system includes a key switch, emergency power disconnect, and onboard dock for Easy Exchange Battery.
SERVICEABILITY
The removable covers and the modular design of the WPL40’s components provide for easy maintenance with simple hand tools. And the two-piece drive wheel reduces the complexity of tire changes.
